4-30-08 Anniversary Issue

4-30-08
I'm getting a bit of a late start this morning, I was totally teased by a Robin Meade story this morning, so I stayed to watch and I fell asleep waiting for it and as far as I could tell it never ran...
So anyway, I promised in honor of Steve's and my anniversary I would show off some of the lovely images that Ryan Benyi shot for us on our special day. I could not have been happier with my wedding photography, in fact I couldn't have been happier with any of my wedding vendors
we had Dine by Design cater the event I can't remember the person who did our flowers, Austinites it matter to you she's in New York, but she was great. Our location was stunning it over looked the hudson river and lower tip of Manhattan and NJ. Breathtaking, right at sunset. You'll see that in just a sec. On out honeymoon and during the week after the wedding my husband and I recorded our memories on wave files to preserve their newness and now we're so glad we did. We get to hear about our wedding day as if it happened just that week. It really helps us rekindle the spirit of it. So last night we listened to parts of it, just out memories of our respective Bachelor and Bachelorette parties and Sunday night we'll listen to the rest our group bachelor/bachelorette party (A scavenger hunt around New York City) and the rehearsal dinner day and our wedding day. It still feel quite fresh especially with out memories to remind us. When we originally did it, we were going to type them out, then we thought well instead why don't record them then type them out, then after we listened to them, we think listening to out own voices say the words is was better. Especially when I leave the room and come back proclaiming CAKE!!! which we ate wedding cake for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for nearly a week after. Nice.
I've been holding out long enough, here are the pictures.

4-29-08 The Green Issue

4-29-08
Happy Anniversary Baby! I know you check it daily.

For everyone else I know I mention it often so I wanted to show you what all of the fuss was about. Those little tomatoes were grown from tiny seeds, now they are hardy 4 foot plants with little tomatoes arriving on their branches. After that is Sage and Thyme. Doesn't the sage have a lovely texture to it? After that is a pepper, I started this in my garden as a starter plant, and I also just moved it because the tomato plants are light hogs and the pepper plant was missing it necessary sunshine. After that are sweet peas there are new tiny flowers emerging on the vines, I assume to facilitate the growing pod. We'll see, it's all about the science.
Thanks for looking, tomorrow I'll show some picts of mine and Steve's wedding.

Please be patient, I know it'll be this week, hopefully sooner than later.
You'll be the first to know!
Thank you for your support.

4-28-08 Life Raft Day

4-28-08
Life Raft Day is something that my husband and I coined while living in Brooklyn, New York. It's a day when you wake up and don't leave the bed,  the apartment is so small you can do most things you from the bed. We play like the floor is the sea and the bed is a safe place. If you must go to the facilities or get food, then you have to walk across furniture or clothes on the way, to stay safe.  The practice has changed a little since then. We live here in Austin now and our house is ginormous, compared to our iddy bitty apartment in NY. It's has been adapted but it's quite close to the original game.
When we have been working a lot and not spending enough time together, this is the perfect opportunity to reconnect and spend the whole day concentrating on each other, with the exception of the 2, 1 hour naps I had yesterday. I love naps, they are so refreshing. So we watched 3 movies and played some Wii, we just got it last week and haven't had enough time to so much as pick up the controllers, until yesterday. We did do the tiniest amount of work, Steve has been working on the pool now for a while and it was rainy and windy and he wanted to make sure the rain had no effect on the pool and because of the wind I had to better secure my tomato plants, as one of them broke off and I am concerned for my little guys. So we spent about 30 minutes doing our respective shore.
That was it. We're reconnected now. It feels good.
Tomorrow is our 2 year wedding anniversary, technically today is. Our officiant was not licensed in New York and couldn't perform our ceremony so we were wed at the Justice of the Peace the day before, 4/28/06.
More fun anniversary news in the next few days. I thought I'd throw in some pictures from our wedding as well. Plus maybe some audio from our wedding memories wave files.
Take care, thanks for looking.

4-26-08 Andrea + Eduardo Wedding

4-26-08
Andrea + Eduardo's wedding was incredible. They went to great length to make everything beautiful and everyone was happy. There was not a dry eye in the place, including mine.
I may not see you tomorrow, it's a life raft day, I'll tell you more about it on Monday.

4-25-08 In honor of...

4-25-08
In honor of Andrea's nuptials, I thought I'd tell you the top five things I did the day of my wedding for before the wedding.

1. I woke up as slow as I could, coffee & breakfast with my sister, BIL Doug, and Mom.
2. Then we watched some scary conservative guns and ammo show on cable while they spoke to me all of the wonderful things marriage can provide.
3. A long hot bubble bath to reflect and think about how wonderful my life is.
4. A trip to a famed New York City stylist house for hair and make-up with my best girls. All giggling about the day, my best friend went to get us lunch at a nearby deli and that was the first time in 10 years and since that I had a bologna and cheese on white. It was delicious.
5. The entrance of Cakeman Raven, he was the baker who made out wedding cake and rather famous in his own right, he travels often with an entourage and is famous for doing the cake for the Birthday of the Brooklyn Bridge he has a section of his website that talks about all of his famous clients sadly we're not on there. But when he came in with 4 people in tow to drop off the cake I was so excited to see what he had come up with, we gave him limited perimeters to work with in and we had no idea what he was going to do. http://www.cakemanraven.com
It was lovely.
My wedding day was the very best day of my entire life from beginning to end I wouldn't have changed a thing. Some of you may know already, or not that this coming Tuesday April 29th will be the 2 year anniversary of that event. We don't have big plans really, I think Steve is going to make me lamb chops. We are going on a short get away at the end of June to commemorate, after our busy season.
Nearer the 29th I'll add a few images from our wedding up.
Well I gotta split, I have a wedding to attend.
Thanks for looking.

4-24-08 kudos near and far.

4-24-08
I thought I would write about Steve, the he counterpart to my she for the purpose of our business and this blog. He is planning to get a site up himself eventually but since he hasn't had a lick of time, I thought I'd write about what he is up to this week. He is working with another local photographer to design her logo and identity. But last night he was honing in on the final touches for the logo and identity for a medium range off Broadway Theatre company in New York City. He spoke with the Artistic Director who "would like to send him flowers, for the great work he's done so far." So we're both very excited about this new potential market.

I also sent out web galleries for both Andrea and Eduard's engagement portrait and Meg's maternity shots and they are both thrilled with the outcome. Andrea is excited about tomorrow. and I think Meg's pretty excited to start shrink a little and meet her daughter.

And tomorrow is Andrea and Eduardo's big day. I am super jazzed, their neighborhood is super modern and cubist and they'll say their vows in their backyard. I should have some top picks up on Saturday sometime, keep checking back.
Until then...

4-23-08 Meg's Baby Bump

4-23-08
I mentioned in a previous post that Meg and her husband Corby are expecting their first in May. We were scheduled to photograph them last weekend end but there were some scheduling issues so we pushed it off until later. So Meg heard from her Doctor that she was having small contractions so we had to shoot it this week just incase Faith decided to come early.
Here are my favorites from our Session on Monday.

4-22-08 Gardening

4-22-08
As I mentioned last, Patty (MIL) is in town this weekend and we were doing out annual gardening extravaganza. We ripped out the front hodgepodge of business and added an array of lovely new offerings. We put in a hanging plant and planter next to the door, and 3 new Begonias on the window sill. We even added a small feature called "Lemon Zest" Petunia. It's color is exquisite, yellow of course, I've provided a picture. I did now wear sunblock the first day which awarded me with the brightest burn. Thanks for looking. For tomorrow Meg, my first maternity shots.
Thanks for looking.

Last night was awesome!!!

4-18-08
We went to a roller skating birthday party last night. It was incredible. I only wish my knee was as young as my heart. I did take a couple of spills, but they were well deserved spills. I spun around in a graceful move that was sure to WOW the masses when I lost my footing and went flying smack on concrete, on my knee cap. That was the low point. Obviously you see then why I have no shots to share, I wasn't sure I could keep my bum off the floor much less my expensive equipment. Please forgive the non documentation.
Patty (MIL) gets here tonight, we are going to plan some huge gardening project and hit the nurseries first thing for the best the season has to offer. I'm pretty pumped. I know they'll documentation of this ;) + guess what, I saw some tomato and pepper buds popping out last night. When you're loving a plant and taking care of it, never truly feels like 65 days gestation.
See you Monday.

Today is a health day

4-17-08
Today I have multiple Dr.s appointments and I'll be headed out soon.
I wanted to tell you a little bit about this weekend coming. We have Patty Howe, my mother in law, coming in for our annual gardening visit. She is an expert gardner in South California and has purposefully learned a great deal about out climate here in Austin to help us out with our planting plans. This is the woman who taught me that smaller potted flowers with the right love and support will turn into huge thriving planted flowers in a short time and can be trusted to grow. since her last visit, I put in a herb garden with lettuce last season and this year I put in tomatoes and peppers 3 kinds of basil sweet peas and I have some small zucchini making it's way out of seed pods inside right now. I will add a few photos in a short while of my lovely proud garden.

4-14-08 Baby Faith

4-14-08
Since I have only just begun my blogging efforts I thought I would catch you up on a few goings on. This installment is about Meg my lovely next door neighbor. She and her husband are expecting their first in May. I joined her at her recent baby shower where numerous friends and loved ones sent a beautiful outpouring of love and support for their new family. Here are some highlights from their event.

4-13-08 Andrea + Ed

4-13-08
Andrea is a lovely bride to be, who decided to not have a photographer for her wedding until I expressed my concern about the loss of her memories. Sadly her experience and those close to her soured her view of photographers. I think we were able to change her mind. Have a look.
Until next time.
